Large-scale spectacle and site-specific performance making - the how and why.
Joey is a designer and director of large scale and site specific performance works that bring artists and community together in creative processes to make works that are both informed by the skill and fascination of the participants as well as local and national topics that are shaping our lives.
Joey will show examples of his national and international work, and explain how and why he makes them, and also share his plans for the shire. His personal medium is that of inventing and welding special effects, structures and enticing spaces. His most well known works include: The Woodford Folk Festival Closing Ceremony of 2013 and 2014, The Centenary of Canberra fireworks, The Windmill in The Rocks and FireWater for Vivid.
Come and enjoy the talk, pictures and discussions over a glass of something from the bar or a delicious plate of food from the Courthouse kitchens.
