Art in The Pub - Celia Morgan

c.a.s.e. inc and BS'A are pleased to welcome artist Celia Morgan as our May Art in The Pub presenter.

Celia will be talking about What (k)not to do; Observations from the (f)art zone.

Come to the Courthouse Hotel, Mullumbimby on Tuesday 27th May, 6 pm for a 6.30 pm start. This is a Free event

The talk will look into the oftentimes fraught road of maintaining the integrity of a personal practice within the dominating forces of commercialisation and institutionalisation that art has become increasingly subject to. Not without a hint of irony, proffering up the artist’s own path, with supporting visual material, as a blue print of what not to do if you want to make a living out of being an artist rather than making sandwiches.

A brief description of the presenting artist:

Celia is a local artist, based for the last 6 years in Bangalow. Whilst painting and drawing are at the heart of her practice she has regular forays into alternative fields of expression. These include various forms of performance, theatre, writing, installation, knotting and pontificating.

Celia has spoken at conferences in Dunedin, Sydney, Prague and Oxford on themes relating to theatre, art and philosophy. She holds 3 degrees (rather excessive) in fine arts: a BFA, MFA and PhD, completed at 3 different Universities (not to be recommended). Celia is also a published writer and has been exhibiting for 20 years across the globe.

None of this has had any noticeable impact on her success as an artist.
